Since the opening of Promenade Mall in Vaughan on Bathurst St, the northern limit of Toronto City has changed. A significant portion of the project relies on changes to the exiting design and model of the mall. These alterations and modifications will come from the large parking space that surrounds the building. WZMH Architects has designed the 1stphase of the redevelopment project that includes three different residential apartment-towers. These towers will be 35, 30 and 28 stories high.
The 28-story high building will have a hotel and offices. According to the plan, the total gross floor area for this purpose will be 144,613 square meters. This phase will see the demolition of 18,756 square meters space from 89,479 square meters in the east and south section of the mall. There will be an addition of 15,773 square meters of new space for retail.
These towers will feature 1066 residential units. The first two of the towers will be 35 and 30 stories high. There will be a shared podium that will be 6-story high and it will occupy the current area former space for Sears. The unit count for these two towers will be 748 suites. 363 of these units will be single bedroom suites while. Additionally, there will be 337 double bedroom suites and 48 triple bedroom suites.
On the north end of the current mall entrance, the 28-story high building will be there and it will have 318 residential units. 265 of these units will be single bedroom suites, while 53 of them will be double bedroom suites. The combined hotel and office area in the building will comprise of 24,392 square meters along with 15,203 square meters for hotel space. This area will spread across 156 units.
There are various improvements to the public realm as well as within the area of the site. Schollen & Co Architects have designed a gateway plaza that will be pedestrian-friendly and this will face the frontage of Bathurst St.
Apart from that, the plan has a large outdoor amphitheater right on the western end of the property. The High St. North-South will be for the pedestrians, right in front of the commercial uses. This will be the ideal place for the residents because plenty of outdoor amenity area will be available.
The residents can also shop their heart out at the large retail space that will be just a few steps away. The 1stphase of the revitalization project focuses more on the mixed-use towers and utilizing the space available around them. There are so many shopping, and dining options available within the site. In most cases, you won’t have to leave the site to do anything. However, in the area nearby there are other options to explore as well.

You won’t find any major hospitals in the Thornhill neighborhood but you can always use local transit to get to Mackenzie Hospital in Richmond Hill or General Hospital of North York in Toronto. Right next to the Bayview and John St is Thornhill’s community center and on the further north public swimming pool, Thornlea Pool is also there.
The site is right next to the intersection of Center St and Bathurst St in the middle of Thornhill. On the south, you can find Hwy 7 as well as Ontario Highway 407. If you are using your own vehicle then these routes will take you to the Greater Toronto Are in no time.
You’ll find different transit options in the area. You can use York Region Transit, VIVA and Toronto Transit Commission routes that directly connect with the terminal. This terminal is just around the corner from the development project of Promenade Park Condos.
